Certainly, there was nothing in your original post that suggested you had taken on this mission before earning the funds to equip your ship better. So too is the advice on letting your marines gain experience. No need for boarding derelict ships regardless of size. Later in the game that advice might be relevant, but right now it's just thread filler. Which is why the advice you gave is useless to someone on the bottom rung. I'm sure it's good info and all, but to a new player it's like advising a fry cook to buy a Mercedes and a driver to go with it. The rest of your post does not really apply to new players like me that don't yet have the wealth to go ship or module shopping, much less to be choosy. If I eject first like Ellerton says, then the claim option becomes available.
